Em Rusciano quits radio show

Em Rusciano has confirmed she’ll be leaving her 2Day FM breakfast radio show at the end of the week after a “heart-breaking, hilarious, soul-destroying, uplifting, disappointing and bloody hard” time since beginning the gig at the start of last year.

This morning the 39-year-old, who co-hosts the Hit Network program alongside Grant Denyer and Ed Kavalee, said she wanted to focus on her pregnancy and that in fact she’s known she’d be quitting for quite some time.

“The truth is when I found out I was pregnant, I made my mind up on the spot that this year would be my last year of breakfast radio,” she wrote on her blog.

“I had intended to work through until December, but as my pregnancy is progressing I’m finding it increasingly harder to fulfil the requirements of my job,” she continued.

“My time at 2Day has been a mixed bag. I’d be flat out lying if I said any differently,” she candidly wrote in the piece.

“It’s been heart-breaking, hilarious, soul-destroying, uplifting, disappointing and bloody hard a lot of the time. Thanks to radio I’ve learned so much about myself; it really puts a spotlight on your strengths and weaknesses like nothing I’ve ever experienced before.”

Em has been fronting 2Day FM’s breakfast radio show since the beginning of 2017 after Rove McManus and Sam Frost’s show was axed.

The first year saw her joined by comedian Harley Breen, before he called it quits and Grant Denyer and Ed Kavalee were brought in as replacements at the start of this year.

Last month Em announced she was pregnant, the news comes just over one year after her devastating miscarriage.

In May 2017, the former Australian Idol contestant revealed she had lost her baby in a heartbreaking post on Facebook.

“About 10 weeks ago I got the most wondrous surprise. I found out I was pregnant,” she said. “I was going to announce it this Monday as we’d hit 13 weeks, but instead I will be at home in the most exquisite pain I can possibly fathom.

“Yesterday I found out that my little boy, was lost to me.”

At the time she also said she and Scott had decided to name their son Ray.

The radio host already has two children with her husband Scott Barrow – Marchella, 16, and Odette, 11.
