Nicolas Cage splits from wife of 11 years

Nicholas Cage has reportedly split from his wife of 11 years, Alice Kim.

TMZ reports that the couple actually separated in January and have been quietly living apart ever since.

This is Cage’s third marriage break up – the actor previously married actress Patricia Arquette from 1995 to 2001. In 2002, he went on to wed Lisa Marie Presley, but the couple separated within four months.

By 2004, it seemed Cage had finally met his match in Kim – though certainly not in the age stakes.

At 52, Cage is 20 years older than the 32-year-old, which Cage admits was a battle at first.

"When my mother-in-law came to the house for the first time, before even hello or nice to meet you, all I got was, 'She's too young!' And so I knew this was going to be an uphill battle,” Cage admitted.

It seems things began to unravel as far back as 2011, when Cage was arrested for loudly arguing with Kim and then taunting police. Subsequent charges were dropped three weeks later though, and things continued as normal for the couple.

"I made a very clear decision to marry out of my own zip code,” Cage said. “I mean, way out of my own zip code. I married into another culture, and it's interesting because in Korea they call me the Son-in-Law."

The couple share a 10-year-old son, Kal-el Coppola Cage, 10, though custody details are not yet clear.

There may be some hope left however, as Cage and Kim have not yet officially filed for divorce.

Cage hit the headlines in April after he was involved in a brawl with Motley Crue lead singer Vince Neil.

The actor stepped in to defend a woman after Crue allegedly assaulted her at a Vegas hotel.

Footage of the incident, obtained by TMZ, shows the musician turning on Cage outside the hotel, who then manages to get him into a head lock as he yells at him to stop.

"F--k you Vince! Stop this s--t now! Don't do this. I love you," says Cage, trying to diffuse the situation.
