Last month Monika co-hosted the Miss Universe Australia Victoria state finals where she got the opportunity to give advice to the girls vying for this year's crown.

Speaking to Be at the Witchery Spring/Summer 2016 runway show on Wednesday night, Monika said it was easy to relate to the way the contestants were feeling.

"I love on this side now, because I know the nerves they are feeling so it was really different," she said.

"It was great for me to go and speak to them and to calm them down because I know how nervous they are. The girls are all amazing, they are such a high caliber this year and I’m really excited to see who the next girl is going to be.”

Drawing on her experience at the pageant, Monika thought back to those moments when it came to offering the girls guidance at the event.

"What I have taken away and wanted to tell them from experiencing this whole year is just that you need to be yourself, its so cliché but it’s so true.

"Just relax and go out there and show the judges who you are inside and be confident and if you’re not confident, fake it to you make it. Smile through the nerves. I think everyone looks better smiling and I told them that so it wasn’t anything too in depth but that kind of stuff really helped me.”

Reflecting on the last 12 months, Monika said it's been one of the most rewarding experiences of her life and has made sure she'd taken full advantage of the opportunities given to her.

“The whole year has probably been the best year of my life, the most exciting and eventful year," she said.

"But going to the international pageant in Vegas was a once in a lifetime experience I will never forget. It’s such an iconic event, so to be amongst that and to experience that backstage and from the inside looking out, it was awesome.

"I remind myself how grateful I am because the opportunities I have been given and the reason I’m so busy is such an amazing thing and not everybody gets the do that. I consider myself very lucky.”

Going forward, Monika's excited for the next journey and has a range of upcoming projects to keep her busy.

Meanwhile Miss World Australia will crown their winner on Friday July 22.
