Grant Hackett spotted drinking with mystery blonde

Grant Hackett has been spotted in the company of a mystery blonde and enjoying a glass of red wine while on the Gold Coast.

The 36-year-old has previously stated he would give up drinking after being involved in a mid-flight drunken incident in April.

Grant was escorted off the flight and was accused of tweaking a male passenger's nipple 'quite forcefully' after consuming a bottle of gin before boarding.

A mystery blonde was seen cuddling up to Grant during the outing to the Versace restaurant, with the pair looking very comfortable in each other's company.

The sportsman divorced wife Candice Alley in 2013, after six years of marriage and two children, twins Jagger Emilio and Charlize Alley.

Grant clearly has a type, with the mystery woman sharing an uncanny resemblance to his ex-wife.

The pair were seen kissing and cuddling while seated outside at the upscale venue.

Following the April incident Grant spoke to the Gold Coast Bulletin, revealing he had been drinking in excess while on antibiotics.

"I don’t make excuses for drinking the alcohol … That was silly getting into that sort of state," he said.

"To give it context — yes I was on antibiotics, yes I wasn’t 100 per cent — I ended up in hospital shortly after that.

"I’m not a diagnosed alcoholic per se but I’ve obviously got a problem with binge drinking and that was evidenced in the way I came off the plane."

Grant was returning to Melbourne after failing to make a comeback and qualify for the Australian Olympic team in the 200m freestyle semi-final trials in Adelaide.

He had been hoping to secure a spot in the 4x200m freestyle relay squad after retiring from the sport more than six years ago.

In 2011 police were called to Grant and Candice's multi-million dollar home after he went on an alcohol-fuelled rampage following the Melbourne Spring Carnival.

He reportedly smashed furniture and photo frames and upending a grand piano before Candice rang police.

The marriage fell apart shortly after in 2012, when Grant was kicked out of the family home following another drunken night out at the Logie Awards.

Grant will not be commentating the upcoming Rio Olympic Games for Channel 7 or act a mentor for the swim team.
