Rose Byrne gets real about motherhood


Rose Byrne has given a revealing insight to how she has handled the pressures of motherhood since welcoming son Rocco six months ago.

Speaking to Sunday Style, the Australian actress joked that having a child means taking on the responsibility to try and keep them alive.

"You have this huge responsibility you didn't have before - there's someone you have to keep alive," she told the magazine.

"I also like to think Rocco has brought out better qualities in me."

Rose and partner, Boardwalk Empire star Bobby Cannavale, welcomed Rocco in February this year.

The Bad Neighbours star also revealed that friends of the are "sick" of hearing the couple gush over their adorable baby.

Rose, who is set to return to the stage later this year with the Sydney Theatre production of Speed-the-Plow, said she's excited to bring her son back to her hometown.

"When I go back it's more emotional each time because time has passed and everyone is older, and I'm older and I have a child now," she said.

Earlier this year Rose said the rigours of motherhood had left her sleep deprived and ‘in a cocoon’ since giving birth.

"I’m still in a fog, I haven’t even left my apartment in three months," said told News Corp.

"It takes an hour and forty-five minutes to get out of the house with a baby, and by the time I’m ready, I’m exhausted. I’m done, I’m going back in. I don’t care!"

Rose founded the female-driven production company, The Dollhouse Pictures with four female friends: Actress Krew Boylan, TV and theatre director Shannon Murphy, documentary filmmaker Gracie Otto, and publicist Jessica Carrera.
