Hamish and Andy prank call a random, accidentally find Australia's best bloke

Our faith in humanity has been restored after watching Hamish Blake and Andy Lee's latest prank.

The radio presenters decided to call a random number and ask whoever answered to be a reference for a complete stranger going for a job.

Melbourne-based James Lord surprisingly agreed to be the referee, not realising who he was actually talking to! In actual fact, he thought he was a character reference for Tim Barnard (played by Hamish).

James lied through his teeth (all for a good cause, remember) and told the fake future employer that he'd known 'Tim' for years through football.

He claimed Tim was bilingual, and that he helped the footy team's treasurer so would be well up for dealing with multi-million dollar deals.

Aussie mateship at its finest we say.

"To be honest, I didn't catch on at all," he told Pedestrian TV. "Looking back now I think, how didn't I catch on? I always listen to Hamish & Andy and kind of hoped I would get pranked, because I thought I would be able to pick out their voices. But I didn't.

"All I thought was, I just wanted to help this bloke out for some reason. I don't know why but I did."

James has since been inundated with friend requests, messages... and we're assuming now job character reference requests.
