Woman 'catfished' by fake Dan Ewing profile

One Dan Ewing fan quit her job to move to Australia to be with the Home And Away actor, only to find out she had been catfished.

The fake Facebook profile came to the attention of Dan Ewing’s ex wife, Marni Little, after she received a Facebook message from a stranger.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Marni said the man was skeptical of the profile after finding out his girlfriend's friend was talking to “Dan” on the social media site.

“The guy sent me a screenshot of the Facebook profile of 'Dan Ewing,' and obviously I knew straight away it was fake, so I sent it to Dan and I said I'd help out spreading the word,” Marni said.

“Dan and I then both reported it. I was outraged the person had used a picture of my baby on the account.”

The scammer used a photo of the 31-year-old Aussie and his two-year-old son, Arthur, as his profile picture to lure in the actor’s fans.

Dan’s Facebook fake had hooked one woman who become so infatuated with the person she thought was the actor, she decided to quit her job and move down under.

“She had no idea. She quit her job! She put in notice at work over someone online who she'd never met,” Marni said.

‘'She was meant to fly into town next week and 'Dan' said he would to pick her up. What kind of person does that to someone?”

Apparently people have set up fake Dan profiles before, but Marni claims “this is by far the worst.”

Dan took to Instagram to warn his followers of the scam.

“Guys CATFISH alert. Please block and report this account. This person is NOT me. In fact if this dog wants to come a chat to me about the things he is doing & and saying to young women I will happily educate him on a few things. Time and place mate inbox me.”

His fans were furious to find out that someone has the nerve to do such a thing.

“Grrrr hate people like this why can’t they just be themselves instead of trying to be someone they’re not!” One Instagram user said.
