Meet Tanya Hennessy. She’s on the radio in Canberra but, more importantly, she’s the gal making you LOL when you scroll that Facebook news feed at your desk when you’re meant to be working.

The 30-year-old is behind FB viral vids like 'Things people say to hairdressers' (seven million views) and 'Things people say to personal trainers.'

Relatable right?

In early 2015 Tanya had about 300 likes on Facebook and now she has more than 131K.

So where did this sudden online fame come from?

“Jules Lund pushed me to makes videos,” Tanya told Be.

“I didn't really know him but I sent him my presenting Showreel and he told me ‘No! You should do funny videos.’

“Then he called me out of the blue when I lived in Queensland and said ‘I wanna see a video from you soon, come on get on it.’”

Tanya made 'The difference between 18 and 30' and it got 1.8 million views in 24 hours.

Before waking up at 4am everyday to be a radio presenter Tanya worked as a stilt walker at Luna Park, a warm-up comedian on a kid’s show, she dressed people in the Mary Poppins musical, and did the brutal standup circuit.

“The first time I did standup I was so drunk I thought I was great," Tanya reminisces. "I went on stage maggot and asked my friend if I nailed it and they said I was f*cked and there were some bits that were funny in between the parts they could understand.'"

Sounds like a hoot!

Tanya makes new videos every week but how do viral stars make money? They don’t make a cent.

“People ask me to do daily videos and I’d love to but I have a full time radio job, I film, organize and edit myself,” Tanya explains. “My intentions are so pure I just want to make funny stuff then if it goes well than all the better for it.”

"Growing up I saw people like Rebel Wilson, Tina Fey and Amy Schumer doing that for a living and realised this is a thing. I would love to follow in their footsteps and do that kind of gear."

But Tanya has done something a little different to established powerhouses like Schumer and Wilson. She invented her own category of entertainment and made social media her b*tch (AKA platform).

“Social media is so important for someone like me because it’s a space for what we want to do,” she says.
