Everything you need to know about Prince Harry's new girl

We only hope the relationship rumours about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are true because the babe is one hell of a catch!

Yep, there’s way more to the 35-year-old star than her role as sexy Rachel Zane from Suits.

The Los Angeles-born actress is also a writer, editor, humanitarian, fashion designer, model, world traveller, aspiring yogee and blogger to name a few.

Here’s everything you need to know about Prince Harry’s new girl...

She’s bi-racial

Like her Suits persona, Meghan is of mixed race. Born to a African-American mother and a father of Dutch-Irish descent, the beauty’s interracial heritage is very close to her heart.

It’s clear Meghan gets her passions from her parents. Her mum is travel agent turned yoga instructor and father is a retired director of photography who worked on set of the sitcom Married With Children for 10 years.

This is where little Meghan got a taste acting. She went to a private Roman Catholic school in LA and speaks fondly of her culture-rich upbringing on her blog: “I like to think he was drawn to her sweet eyes and her Afro, plus their shared love of antiques… Whatever it was, they married and had me,” she wrote.

Meghan has always had a strong political opinion.

Meghan told Matches Fashion when she was only 11-years-old: “I became a member of the National Organisation for Women in the States .I’ve always been a young feminist… It’s always been important to me to be vocal about what I feel is right, whether that’s as a woman, or being bi-racial.”

When she finished school, Megan attended Northwestern University, Illinois, where she did a double major in theatre and international relations.

A few years into her degree, she began focusing on a career in politics. She applied for an internship at a U.S. embassy and got a position based in Buenos Aires.

She was discovered at a party

After her internship in South America, she returned to university to pursue acting and attended a party where a friend introduced her to an agent who believed she would 'make money,' after seeing a student film she starred in.

Despite her striking looks, Meghan revealed on her blog that being of mixed race made it hard for her to kick start her acting career. “I wasn't black enough for the black roles and I wasn't white enough for the white roles,” she wrote.

She use to be a briefcase girl on Deal Or No Deal

Believe it or not, Meghan’s short modelling career saw her work on the popular television show Deal Or No Deal, where she stunned in a tight red dress and held prize money in briefcases.

She’s has a blog

She’s a foodie

We’re super jealous of how Meghan manages to maintain a slender figure while eating all the incredible food she boasts about on Instagram. Just like her Suits character, Rachel, Meghan is a mega food aficionado.

She interviews michelin star chefs for The Tig, discovers the best hole-in-the-wall eateries around the globe during her travels and loves French fries so much, she once told Delish she considers them to be their “own food group.”

While she lets herself eat and drink whatever she wants on the weekend, during the week the foodie adopts a mostly vegan diet. (That’s how she does it!)

She’s divorced

Meghan was once married to the New York businessman, Trevor Engelson. The 40-year-old, who owns the production company Underground is best known for producing the 2010 film, Remember Me, which featured actor Robert Patterson.

The Hollywood couple began dating in 2004 and six years later they got engaged. In 2011 Trevor and Meghan tied the knot in Jamaica with 100 of their closest friends and family at the intimate wedding.

Fans were shocked when the loved-up pair split in August 2013 for unknown reasons. They eventually filed for divorce and went their separate ways.

She’s got the travel bug

It’s clear from her Instagram posts, Meghan is a travel addict, thanks to her parents who introduced her to the globe when she was young. The up-and-coming actress has uploaded photos of her beaming in glamorous locations.

She’s eaten her way around Italy, soaked up the sun in Spain and Greece, got a culture fix in Mexico, changed children’s lives in Rwanda and climbed glaciers in Iceland. Is there anywhere Meghan hasn’t been?

Well… apparently Scotland is next on the cards.

She loves dogs

Meghan has two rescue dogs, Bogart and Guy. They’re her life and make regular appearances on her Instagram.

But if it wasn’t for Ellen DeGeneres, Meghan wouldn’t have adopted Bogart.

She told Best Health magazine she went to a dog shelter in LA and while she was holding the dog, Ellen and Portia de Rossi walk in.

“Ellen goes ‘Is that your dog?’ And I said, ‘No,’ and she’s like, ‘You have to take that dog.’ And I said, ‘Well, I’m deciding.’ And she’s like, ‘Rescue the dog!’
“I’m sitting there holding him and she’s like ‘Have you thought of a name for him yet?’ And I said, ‘Well, I think I’d name him Bogart,’ and she’s like ‘You’re taking the dog home.’

“And so I brought him home. Because Ellen told me to.”

She use to be a calligrapher

She revealed to Good Housekeeping: “I used to be a calligrapher for weddings and events — that was my side job while I was auditioning.” Meghan’s clients weren’t short of shabby: “I did calligraphy for the invitations for, like, Robin Thicke and Paula Patton’s wedding,” she told Esquire.

“I used to do it for Dolce & Gabbana’s celebrity correspondence over the holidays. I would sit there with a little white tube sock on my hand so no hand oils got on the card, trying to pay my bills while auditioning.”

She loves spending time with her girls

Meghan loves nothing more than sipping on a glass of rose with her besties. Whether it’s by the pool, at funky restaurants, somewhere around the world or in the studio, Meghan is always surrounded by friends, some of which include tennis champ Serena Williams and Made In Chelsea star Millie Mackintosh.

While we couldn't be more jealous of her life, we couldn't think of anyone more perfect for the handsome royal.
