Seth Rogen lands Lion King role

Cinderella, The Jungle Book and Beauty and The Beast have been major live-action hits for Disney at the box office, and The Lion King is the next remake in the works.

The updated version of the animated classic is already notching up an A-list cast, with Donald Glover confirmed to play Simba, James Earl Jones reprising his tole as Mufasa and Beyonce in the running to voice Nala.

And now The Wrap is reporting that two more actors are headed for Pride Rock.

A source tells the outlet that funnymen Seth Rogen and Billy Eichner are in “final negotiations” to play warthog Pumbaa and his wise-cracking meerkat sidekick Timon.

The two critters take in lion cub Simba after he runs away from home, with the roles originally voiced by Ernie Sabella and Nathan Lane in the 1994 animated movie.

The characters get to sing the catchy motivational hit “Hakuna Matata”, so lets hope Seth and Billy’s voices are up to the challenge!

The Lion King is in pre-production now but we have a while to wait - the release date has been revealed as July 19, 2019.
