Kyle's serious leg infection after spider bite

Famed KIIS FM’s shock jock Kyle Sandilands has been hospitalised after a spider bite reportedly caused his leg to swell and turn purple.

His co-host Jackie O told listeners that Kyle, who is currently in LA, was suffering from a serious leg infection.

Jackie O, broadcasting from Sydney, played some previously unheard audio of Kyle discussing his hospitalisation over the Easter break.

The 45-year-old said that while in the US, his “leg swelled up…like Kirstie Alley” and became “purple” and “infected”, with doctors believing he suffered a spider bite while still in Australia.

In the audio, Kyle is heard saying that he dreamed his leg had been amputated at the hip.

Between “filler” segments on this morning’s breakfast show, Jackie played down the incident, joking that Kyle would “probably lose his leg” and said that she’d been researching prosthetic options for him – including a gold version of his limb.

The show’s official Twitter account also alluded to the amputation.

While New Idea reports that the star has been hospitalised, it’s believed he is in a stable condition.

"Kyle's going to be fine," Jackie insisted at around 9.15am on the show.
