'Yummy Mummies' feud in breastfeeding bust-up

Yummy Mummies star Jane Scandizzo has no time for her co-star Maria DiGeronimo's controversial views on breastfeeding in public.

Speaking exclusively to Be, the mother-of-two called Maria's comments that breastfeeding in public should be illegal "sad" and fans of Channel Seven's latest reality show shouldn't think those views extend to the rest of the cast that includes Lorinska Merrington and Rachel Watts.

"I think it was mostly about Maria and her comments about breastfeeding, and I'm not surprised, being a big breastfeeder and I always breastfeed my kids, so I probably would have gotten upset anyway if I didn't know what the show was like," Jane told Be when discussing the backlash the show had gotten over the comments even before it aired.

"I think it's really sad. Obviously not everyone can breastfeed, but if you can I think it is the best start for a little one, especially the first six weeks, and if you can - do it - it's awesome, but if you can't obviously you have to try other things. I don't believe it should be illegal. It's terrible, and it's sad, what's the world coming to if that's your opinion."

Jane, who is currently breastfeeding her 11-month-old bub and breastfed her eldest son Jagger until he was 14 months, went on to add that she believes first-time mum Maria might be of the opinion that breasts are only a "sexual thing" and warned that her comments made the rest of the women on the show look bad.

"Those really silly comments by Maria made us all look really bad and we came across very materialistic and that we're all into labels, of course we work hard and we do have labels, but not all of our stuff is labels, I love anything! I'm not all for labels," she said.

"That's why people shouldn't judge so quickly. They need to watch the show and give it a go. After all those negative criticisms we came out and said 'It's not all us, we're all very different people, we don't all have the same views with all the things that have been said'".

In tonight's second episode, Maria makes more than one catty comment about her co-stars appearance or choice or outfit, however Jane goes on, telling Be that the 30-year-old's "nasty" comments are part of her personality.

"I think it's just her personality and she has mentioned it before, like that's just who she is. From I have been told from her I just think she has a big family network but she doesn't have a lot of girlfriends and I think that's probably why, people don't want to put up with crap like that and be her friend if you're going to get criticised about everything."
