Yummy Mummies star slams 'haters' over breastfeeding comments

Channel Seven's new show Yummy Mummies has taken the country by storm... with one star in particular ruffling a lot of feathers.

Maria DiGeronimo caused some major controversy on the show after saying she thinks breastfeeding in public should be “illegal”.

Despite the backlash she's sticking by the remarks telling New Idea she's “misunderstood” and she can handle any criticism thrown at her.

“I’ve had haters since I was born,” Maria told the magazine.

She claims her mother, Margherita, “knew” she was going to deal with hate throughout her life and “prepared” her for dealing with it, which is why she has “such a thick skin”.

The 31-year-old brushed off all the criticism she received over the comments telling the publication: “A lot of people are going to like you or hate you, but I’m not trying to be everyone’s cup of tea and I don’t want to be.”

Even her co-stars were shocked at her remarks.

Jane Scandizzo spoke exclusively to Be recently called Maria’s comments “sad” and fans of Channel Seven's latest reality show shouldn't think those views extend to the rest of the cast that includes Lorinska Merrington and Rachel Watts.

We’re sure there’s still a lot to come from all the Yummy Mummies.
