Should Rachel and Joey have ended up together?

Despite the hardcore Friends fan-theory that demands Rachel and Joey should have ended up together, Jennifer Aniston has made it clear she's not here for it.

Earlier this month writer Claire Willets took to Twitter to give a very in-depth reasoning on why she thought they two should have ended up together, instead of Rachel and Ross.

If your memory doesn't stretch that far back, Rachel and Matt LeBlanc's character Joey start a pretty serious flirt-fest in season eight, but it isn't until season 10 that they decided to try a proper, yet short-lived relationship, with Rachel getting back together with Ross for good by the end of the series.

In a 100 tweet-thread Claire argued that Joey was the one who always noticed what Rachel wanted throughout the entire show, that he would have "treated her like a queen instead of being patronised forever" with Ross.

However the 48-year-old actress has shot down the fan-theory, saying she was all for the Rachel-Ross ending!

"No! No, no. They tried! I think there was a moment when Joey and Rachel got together that maybe it could happened, but it didn’t. It was Ross and Rachel all the way. I really believe that if there’s an afterworld of Friends, they’re still thriving. Don’t you?" Jen said in a recent interview with Elle.

"I just don’t think Joey and Rachel could have made it. I think it was more physical than emotional with them. They were friends with benefits, and they left it at that."

Jen has spoken, it looks like the case of Rachel and Joey is closed!
