Alex Nation cuddles girlfriend as she says 'love prevailed'
Alex Nation has shared a sweet snap cuddling up to girlfriend Maegan Luxa following the Australian marriage equality YES vote.
It is the first photo the ex-girlfriend of Bachelor Richie Strahan has shared on social media since the pair started dating.
In the picture, Alex and Maegan look totally loved-up on the beach while watching the sunset and enjoying a cuddle.
"Everywhere around the country, voices of the oppressed rang true," the 26-year-old said in the caption of the Instagram snap. "They were not silenced and love prevailed #onyastraya (sic)".
Back in August Alex discussed the impending same-sex marriage plebiscite on her radio show 88.3 Southern FM and urged listeners to vote in favour of gay marriage.
“I think if you have a connection with someone you can’t – people can’t help who they connect with,” she said.
Well, it seems as though Alex's pleas were definitely heard as the Head of the Australian Bureau of Statistics, David Kalisch, announced that 61.6 per cent of those who participated in the postal vote wanted to see the law change.
The Senate will be asked later today to support a move to introduce draft laws allowing same-sex marriage on Thursday.
The proposed bill will be debated in both houses of parliament but Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull remains confident the law can be passed before Christmas.
What a historic day for Australia. Love is love.
