Bachelor's Jen Hawke: 'How I got more air time than Matty J'

She famously walked out on Matty J during last year's Bachelor season, and Jen Hawke says she has no regrets about how her time on the show played out.

The TV villain says every move of hers was very calculated, which helped her essentially get more air time than the Bachelor himself.

"The thing was, a lot of the girls in my season weren’t the brightest," Jen told Be at the Sydney premiere ofUnReal Season 3.

"So I could see what producers were doing to manipulate situations. I wasn’t going to be manipulated."

Jen says she initially felt producers were trying to influence her behaviour, but it didn't take her long to turn things around.

"It happened early on, and about three times of it happening to me, [I said] 'This is done, we’re not doing it anymore. I’m going to basically be the b**ch I want to be'," she explained.

"I didn’t want to play their games."

As for how she believes the producers stirred up drama in the series, Jen says the small things made a difference, and that it's very similar to how things play out on Stan show UnReal.

"Going into the Bachelor mansion one of the first things they did say to us was it’s nothing like UnReal. And Im going to tell you straight out, UnReal is so close to what it actually is, it’s ridiculous."

"It’s a matter of they’ll send all the girls there to make comments about something," she said of producers' tactics.

"You know they’re producers, they plant seeds [with] these weird questions they ask you."

And what's more, the TV star says producers didn't want her to be the villain of the series in the first place.

"I don’t think they wanted me to be the villain," she told Be.

"I actually think I was supposed to be someone completely different and I think girls like Leah... Leah was supposed to be the b**ch and also Steph and Liz could be really b**chy characters.

"But I think in the long run, I am better at commentating the season, I’m better at expressing myself and it was a really good villain and it was a lot of fun to play."

It's taking on this villainous persona that helped Jen leave quite an impression on viewers last year.

"When you look at our season, there’s 16 episodes. I left on the 10th and I was getting more air time than Matty J," she laughed.

"I think it’s quite a boring season without me. So I know that’s a really bad thing to say but I kind of mean it."

Jen famously packed her bags and walked out of the Bachelor mansion last year, throwing away the opportunity to find love with Matty J.

But something tells us she has no regrets whatsoever.
