Game of Thrones theories you need to read before the next episode

***SPOILERS AHEAD***

It's one of the most talked about shows on the Internet, so we can always count on our fellow interweb users to offer us some interesting theories as to what exactly is going to go down in each Game of Thrones episode.

We're just around the corner from the end of the show's sixth season, but with episode nine up next (traditionally the most bloody and shocking ep of every season) there's sure to be plenty of shocks still left in the bag.

So, we've scoured the Internet to find the most talked-about fan theories that you need to read before you tackle next week's episode.

Will Ser Davos meet his end?

While most fans were focused on the epic showdown between Jon Snow and Ramsay Bolton that's to come in the next episode of the season (it is called Battle of the Bastards, after all...), eagle-eyed viewers have also spotted something interesting about The Onion Knight, Ser Davos, in the sneak peek.

In the preview clip for the episode, Davos appears next to a pile of burnt sticks, hinting that he may have found the final resting place of his friend, and Stannis Baratheon's daughter, Shireen, who was burnt alive in the ninth episode of season five.

In the same preview, Davos is shown charging with his sword in anger - but could it actually be towards the Red Woman instead of Bolton's army?

(If your friend - who was a young girl - got sacrificed in the name of battle success, you'd be pretty pissed too, right?)

While this might spell the end for Davos, fans have also pointed out that he is the one character who seems to know the cure for Greyscale - something that Daenerys' right hand man Ser Jorah is currently searching the world to find.

We smell a bromance brewing!

Cersei becomes the Mad Queen

It looks like Cersei Lannister is headed down a path similar to that of the infamous Mad King Aerys Targaryen, who planned to burn down the whole of King's Landing with wildfire.

Hints dropped throughout season six - and in fact, the whole series - might prove that Cersei will turn to a similar plan when her life crumbles before her.

Remember the prophecy the witch gave Cersei back when she was a young girl?

So far, most of what she said has come true: she will marry a King, not a prince; the King will have many children, but she will only have three; and two of her three children have already died.

This means things aren't looking great for poor King Tommen, who's death may prompt Cersei to destroy the city.

Qyburn's hints that a certain "rumour" might be true suggest Cersei has been seeking out information about just how much wildfire the city has hidden.

Also, Cersei talks about burning things to the ground A LOT.

The final part of the witch's prophecy is the most disturbing though - she tells Cersei that she will be killed by "the valonqar" (High Valyrian for "little brother").

"[He will] wrap his hands about your pale white throat and choke the life from you," she said.

Does this mean Jamie will, once again, be forced to slay a royal (and what's more, his own sister and lover) to save the city?

R + L = J?

If you don't know about this popular theory then how dare you call yourself a true Game of Thrones fan you better listen up.

The popular theory says that Jon Snow's real parents are Rhaegar Targaryen and Ned Stark's sister, Lyanna Stark. Ned was forced to take Jon in as his own child to protect him from being slaughtered by his friend, Robert Baratheon, who sought to exterminate all Targaryens.

Baby Jon is supposedly found in the Tower of Joy, when Ned also finds the body of his beloved sister.

Thanks to Bran's flashbacks in season six, fans were given a quick glimpse at the scenes leading up to the discovery...but the show stopped short of officially confirming the theory.

Thanks, guys.

Now that Bran is on the run from the White Walkers (thanks to his returned Uncle Benjen), and his flashback buddy the Three-Eyed Raven is dead, it remains to be seen whether we'll ever know what Ned really found in the Tower.

Having watched all the Game of Thrones episodes on offer (because #HARDWORK), we're also definitely, maybe able to debunk these popular fan theories. Sad face.

Cleganebowl is cancelled

It looks like we won't be able to see The Hound face off against his mighty big brother, The Mountain.

Fans were anxiously awaiting a showdown between the two, which was estimated to take place during Cersei's trial by combat in King's Landing.

Except...Tommen totally just banned trials by combat throughout Westeros, so we won't get to see the zombie version of Gregor Clegane in action after all.

Lady Stoneheart arrives

If you've read the books, you'll know this is one of the most anticipated moments in Game of Thrones: when Catelyn Stark is brought back to life as the vengeful Lady Stoneheart.

The late Stark mother is supposed to be resurrected by Beric Dondarrion, who sacrifices his life for hers.

Considering we just saw Dondarrion alive in well in the show's latest episode, and Edmure Tully hinted that it's been "years" since the Red Wedding, it looks like we may not be seeing Lady Stoneheart back in action at all.
