Thanks to an accidental haircut this model has had a very successful NYFW

With New York Fashion Week well under way, it's not just the clothes that gain attention during the iconic event.

The model and their hairstyles are also in the spotlight and this year Brazilian model Ari Westphal is the centre of attention with her unique do.

However, her short hairstyle wasn't the result of a backstage haircut by a renowned hairstylist, instead a DIY experiment gone wrong.

"It was an accident," the model told W Magazine.

“I was cutting my own hair and I cut too much off. I didn't know what to do! I cried for a week!”

Having previously appeared in a Chloe ad campaign, this week the model starred at the Tom Ford Fall 2016 show.

After a trip to her agent and professional hairdresser, she was left with a pile of natural curls. It's short on the sides, and longer on top.

And it's thanks to this new look that she has earned herself a somewhat cult following.

When asked by the magazine if she'll be walking in any other New York Fashion Week shows she replied coyly, "I don't know yet. I start today with Tom Ford."
