Foodies, it's official, the gourmet goddess is returning to our shores for Western Australia's world-renowned food festival, Gourmet Escape.
Nigella Lawson appeared on Channel 7 this morning for an exclusive chat with Sunrise’s Samantha Armytage, and said she is so excited to be headlining the Margaret River event.
“I’ve always wanted to go to Western Australia because I haven't been there and everyone just sings the praises of the produce there,” the loveable cookbook author said.
Speaking about Australian food, Lawson said she loves it for its boldness and lack of pretension. “It’s got a vibrancy and a freshness, and an originality… which is quite direct and honest, but the flavours are just so good,” she said.
The culinary guru last touched down in Oz earlier this year in January for her Australian tour promoting her new cookbook Simply Nigella.
Lawson is just one of many famous cooks and chefs who will be making an appearance at Gourmet Escape.
It’s the biggest-ever line-up of Aussie and International chefs we’ve ever seen at an Australian food festival.
Expect to see local favourites such as Masterchef’s season two winner Adam Liaw, Darren Robsertson of Three Blue Duck’s, Cumulus Inc empire owner Andrew McConnell, French fanatic Guillaume Brahimi and ACME’s Mitch Orr to name a few.
Flying in for the three day festival are three of the world’s top 10 chefs, including the San Pellegrino Top 50 Awards number two, Joan Roca from El Celler de Can Roca restaurant in Spain, America’s Michelin star chef Dominique Crenn and the UK’s Dinner by Heston Blumenthal’s head chef, Ashley Palmer-Watts.
From gourmet beach barbecues on pristine white sand beaches, to long lunches and fire-fueled feasts, Gourmet Escape is the ultimate food festival for food and wine fiends.
The How to be a Domestic Goddess author revealed she will be available at the festival for book signings, Q&As and triyng to talk to as many people as possible, as engaging with others who love food as much as her, as well as exotic foods, give her inspiration for creating new dishes.
With London’s summer channeling our winter, Lawson revealed on the show the dishes she loves to cook this time of year and the ones she will be creating when she arrives down under.
