Is Meghan Markle copying Kate Middleton’s bridal diet?

She’s already in incredible shape, but like most brides, looking good on her big day is something that might be playing on Meghan Markle's mind in the lead-up to her May wedding to Prince Harry.

And it’s left royal insiders wondering if the actress will follow in the diet footsteps of her future sister-in-law, Kate Middleton.

While she’s never publicly revealed what she did before her 2011 nuptials to Prince William, the Duchess of Cambridge reportedly stuck to a strict Dukan Diet – and there’s speculation from UK press Meghan might do the same.

The Dukan Diet focuses on different eating “phases” with a focus on high-protein foods and oat bran in the early stages of the low-carb eating plan.

Health-conscious Meghan is known for following a low-carb diet plan anyway.

“I definitely try to eat as clean as possible,” she told Shape magazine.

“I just try to avoid the things I know are going to make me feel lethargic or sluggish. I eat mostly just fish and veggies.”

The self-confessed foodie admits she loves Italian food and fries, but adopts a balanced approach that sees her strict during the weekdays and more relaxed on the weekends.

With Prince Harry spotted hitting the gym in the countdown to the couple’s wedding, it’s something he has in common with his bride-to-be, who loves running, yoga, Pilates and doing celebrity trainer Tracy Anderson’s at-home DVDs.

“I love running but I think you have to find a workout routine that really speaks to you beyond trying to get goals for your body,” Meghan told Shape.

“For me, running, I need it as much for my head and to clear my head as for keeping in shape.”
