Ivanka Trump slammed for 'tone deaf' family photo

She’s never shied away from sharing happy family snaps before, so Ivanka Trump probably didn’t think twice before she posted a photo of her cuddling her two-year-old son, Theodore, to Twitter.

Little did President Donald Trump’s daughter realise how much outrage the photo would spark, with social media alight over the image.

So why all the fuss over a seemingly innocent photo?

The Trump administration is currently under fire for a new policy which will see children of immigrants entering the US illegally, forcibly removed from their parents and placed into custody.

“Those [parents] apprehended will be sent directly to federal court under the custody of the US Marshals Service, and their children will be transferred to the custody of Health and Human Services’ Office of Refugee Resettlement,” the Guardian reports the Department of Homeland Security detailing in an email.

Needless to say, Ivanka’s photo of her with her forehead lovingly pressed to her toddler’s, and with the caption “My heart”, has ignited serious criticism.
