Kerri-Anne Kennerley’s heartwarming fire brigade help with hubby John
Rushing around to dinners and gatherings is all part and parcel of the festive season, but for Kerri-Anne Kennerley, attending an annual Christmas Eve dinner with friends was almost something she had to miss – until her local firemen saved the day.
The veteran TV star has revealed how she was struggling to figure out a way to get herself and hubby John to her girlfriend Elizabeth’s annual dinner.
John was left a quadriplegic following a fall in 2016, which left him in a wheelchair.
With Elizabeth’s home at the top of steps, Kerri-Anne was convinced the couple wouldn’t be able to attend.
"We were almost not going because she has four steps which means you need a six metre ramp for John's chair,” she told 9Honey.
But a brainwave soon hit, with KAK popping around to her local fire station in the Sydney suburb of Woollahra.
After explaining she needed assistance lifting John up the stairs, Kerri-Anne’s Christmas plans were cemented when the firemen told the 64-year-old they were more than happy to help.
“He said, 'Absolutely, we do these things for the community.
“Any time 24/7 you need help with John we're always here.”
It's stories like this that make you believe in the Christmas spirit...
