Watch what happened when this man went swimming with his iPhone 7

When Apple announced the release of the iPhone 7 at the start of the month, people were freaking out about the fact that they removed the headphone jack.

In the madness that surrounded the loss of the 3.5mm jack, people seemed to completely bypass the news that the new iPhone could be submerged in water for up to 30 minutes and come out working perfectly.

Now for those of us who are prone to dropping our smartphones down the toilet, into a drink, puddle, or swimming pool, this was epic news.

According to Apple, the iPhone 7 can be immersed in 1 metre of water and be left there for up to 30 minutes.

And it appears we weren't alone in thinking this was amazing news, as when the iPhone 7 was released on Friday, tech YouTuber EverythingApplePro decided to test our whether or not the phone was actually water-resistant - and the results are amazing.

The vlogger released a video showing him jumping into a river with his brand new iPhone in his hand.

The camera then cuts to the actual iPhone 7 camera, which seems to be still working perfectly.

"The iPhone 7 is much much more capable than you guys think in the water"

"I'm actually very surprised, Apple seems to have underrated it," he says, before jumping back into the water again numerous times with the iPhone still in his hand.

"Not only did it survive for 30 minutes in the water it also survived all the jumps and jolts in the river," he continued.

His verdict was that he still wouldn't recommend leaving it sitting in a bowl of water overnight, but if you're swimming in the ocean and want to take a picture of your friends, then go right ahead.

That's another major tick from us for the iPhone 7.
