Couples who drink together stay together, study says
Apparently couple's who knock back back a few drinks together are more likely to have a stronger relationship.
Three thousand couples were surveyed for a new study based on their relationships and it has resulted in the good news that couple's who consume alcohol together are more successful than those who have only one partner who enjoys a glass of vino.
Before you start thinking it's a millennial thing, the couples who undertook the study were married for 33 years on average.
The study, which was published in the Journals of Gerontology, found that in relationships where only partner drank, triggered a number of marital issues. And more interestingly, gender played a huge role as the issue arose more if it was the woman who got drunk while the husband stayed sober.
The author of the study, Dr. Kira Birditt spoke to Reuters Health and revealed, "We're not sure why this is happening but it could be that couples that do more leisure time activities together have better marital quality."
To be honest, it kind of makes sense! Couples who enjoy similar interests are more likely to enjoy each other's company!
