Roxy Jacenko opens up about her one regret post cancer diagnosis

PR queen Roxy Jacenko says she regrets not being more proactive before her breast cancer diagnosis.

The 36-year-old mother of two has opened up about last week's shocking news admitting she honestly thought this wouldn't happen to her - especially at her young age.

"I should have known better and I should have done routine mammograms knowing that my mum had suffered from breast cancer - but I didn't, I just thought, 'I'll worry about that when I'm 40 plus," she told Fairfax Media.

The Sweaty Betty CEO's mum Doreen Davis had a mastectomy a decade ago for the same disease.

Now Roxy is urging all young women, especially those with cancer in the family, to get checked regularly.

"Don't just happen to be showering and come across a lump like I did," she says.

"Even when you think, 'that will never happen to me,' one day you will wake up to start the day and it will - just like me."

The savy business had an MRI scan last Tuesday and a second core-needle biopsy (a test to remove tissue or fluid from the suss area) on Wednesday. She is meeting specialists to discuss next steps.

It's been a heartbreaking year for the publicist - her hubby Oliver Curtis was only sentenced to two years jail for insider trading last month.

Despite the recent shock news Roxy says she is feeling good and has no plans to "slow down."
