Parents slam inappropriate primary school exam

Parents have been left shocked by an exam handed out to their young children at primary school.

The quiz issued to 11-year-old students at Carter G. Woodson Middle School in Virginia asked the children to fill out terms related to family relationships.

However, one angry mum has posted a copy of the quiz to Facebook, fuming that her child had been made to fill out the quiz.

"We very openly and bluntly discuss many topics in our home but school is not the place for this 'in my opinion’,” mum Tara Sample captioned the photo.

If you look closely it’s the last four questions of the exam that has cause the most uproar.

After children had to work out when someone was a niece, or sister-in-law, the final questions were a little more ‘scandalous’.

The school has since issued a response to local news station WTVR.

“Upon further review, we have determined that a teacher downloaded this worksheet from the Internet,” the school's Superintendent Dr. Melody Hackney said.

“This content was not a part of the current and approved curriculum for this course nor was it in any way an appropriate learning tool for middle school aged children.”
