Teacher's touching exam-prep note orders kids to eat sweets

Think back to the last time you had an exam.

Chances are you spent the weekend before it in a state of high panic, with last-minute cramming, an outbreak of stress hives, and wild emotional outbursts that may have been related to the huge amounts of coffee you’d been drinking.

While the stakes are somewhat lower for kids in school, there’s no doubting exams are stressful, and one lovely teacher decided to make sure her Year 6 kids prepared for the tests in the right way.

Mrs Kelly, a teacher at Boothstown Methodist Primary School in the UK sent her 32 pupils home with a heartwarming note the weekend before their SATs tests.

Her pre-exam prescription? Eating Haribo, watching TV, laughing until your tummy hurts and then maybe eating some more ice-cream.

“This is your homework for this weekend,” the note read. “Please complete as many of these activities as possible and tick to say they have been done.”

She ended the touching note by saying: “Mrs Kelly is in charge of worrying – you don’t need to. You are all amazing and I couldn’t be more proud of you.”

Parents everywhere have praised the teacher, claiming it’s exactly what kids need.

For her part, the beloved teacher says she just wanted to recognise her class and the hard work they had put in before the test.

"It's easy for children to be anxious about these tests and we wanted to make sure they're not worrying too much about them,” Mrs Kelly told the Manchester Evening News.

"One parent came in and was actually quite emotional. She said 'thank you so much' as she'd been wanting to do something to help her child."
