Roxy Jacenko opens up about ‘train wreck’ marriage

Roxy Jacenko has revealed how genuinely in trouble her marriage was, even before hubby Oliver Curtis spent 12 months in jail.

The PR queen has opened up to Be about how “seriously challenging” things were between the pair, admitting a divorce was all but set in stone.

“All marriages are hard, but throw in what we had hanging over our heads and the immense pressure Oli was under, and it made things very difficult. It wasn’t how I thought my life would be,” Roxy tells Be.

“I guess we were just removed from the marriage with so many other pressures for both of us, not only work but the cloud of ‘what if’’ hanging over both of our heads.

"I remember the day I saw a lawyer to start working through things and I guess I just thought at that point, it's best for everyone, the kids included."

The 37-year-old, who is an ambassador for ENJO, said their marriage was in trouble long before he went to jail.

“It was a train wreck. I was concrete on getting divorced,” the Sweaty Betty boss told Today Extra.

Despite things getting so difficult, Roxy says her and Oliver never argued in front of their two children Pixie, 5, and Hunter, 3.

“Oli is a very patient person, if we did have a squabble we would do it with firm words rather than raised voices,” she tells us.

“When there are kids involved I think it’s important to avoid them seeing arguments as it’s damaging and upsetting.”

Roxy and Oliver first tied the knot at Sydney's Quay in 2012, but earlier this month Roxy admitted she "didn't think there was any hope" for the couple once he returned home.

But Roxy says her life regained some ‘normality’ for the first time since their first year of marriage, after he was released from Cooma Correctional Centre in June.

“He was released, and I had this person around me who was kind, caring and didn’t care what everyone else thought of me or what they said (most of it being very creative and far from the truth),” she says.

“He didn’t read trivial gossip.”

Things certainly took a turn when Oliver proposed to Roxy for a second time in July. She took to Instagram to announce he had popped the question and showed off her stunning new ring.

“Oli knows the situation the children and I were left in was far from ideal but the reality is, that’s life, it’s not perfect and if anything his proposal was a ‘lets start this again’– and let’s do it properly,” Roxy says.

“The chapter has closed, the mistakes have been made by both of us, we look past it and make the most of life without stewing on what has happened!”
