With jacaranda’s around Australia in full bloom, one woman has taken a striking series of photos with the beloved native trees. But can you spot where she is?

Cancer sufferer Supatra Raffan was given a year to live but has bravely stripped down and revealed her mastectomy scars for a naked body-painting photoshoot.

She decided she wanted to ‘merge’ with the jacarandas in the photo saying it was the perfect way to honour and celebrate her body as she is faced with “the possibility of leaving it soon”.

Supatra underwent a mastectomy in June 2015 and is now having radiotherapy because of the aggressive nature of the cancer.

“Posing for the photos was an amazing experience. It was so beautiful, so grounding, and so honouring,” she says.

The 66-year-old, from Queensland, was daubed in the seasonal Australian tree's distinctive lilac petals by friend and body paint artist Orly Faya before posing for the amazing photographs.

Orly did such a good job that her friend is rendered near-invisible as she blends into the natural backdrop.

It took an hour and a half for Orly to paint and photograph Supatra during the shoot against blooming jacarandas in Mullumbimby, New South Wales.

The 33-year-old, who has been a body painter for seven years and first started creating her characteristic merged images four years ago.

“Supatra is a very special woman and it’s awful to think about losing her,” Orly says.

“It was such a beautiful, easy and magical experience. I think it was very healing.”

Supatra said while she does not want to leave this earth, she is “not afraid” or her mortality.

The mum-of-four, who is currently undergoing palliative care says many people find death very challenging to face.

“A lot of people just cannot seem to deal with the fact that I am dying,” she says.

“But coming to terms with it has made it easier for me to make the most of my time in my body, which is very precious indeed.”
