Furious Camilla’s jealousy over Meghan’s royal role

Ever since announcing her engagement to Prince Harry last month, Meghan Markle has been thrown in the deep end when it comes to embracing her life as a soon-to-be royal.

From undergoing hostage training to cautiously making her first appearance as Prince Harry’s official other half at public events, the actress has taken everything in her stride.

But insiders say there’s one unexpected obstacle Meghan might be facing – and it’s none other than a jealous future mother-in-law.

While publicly Camilla has said she is “absolutely delighted” about the royal wedding, Woman's Day reports the Duchess is “furious” Meghan has been so readily accepted into the royal family by the public, especially given their similar backgrounds.

Both divorcees, the Duchess of Cambridge’s 2005 wedding to Prince Charles came under a huge amount of scrutiny thanks to a tangled love triangle that saw them have an affair while Charles was still married to Princess Diana.

“Unlike Camilla, Meghan wasn’t treated as second-rate when Harry proposed, despite the fact she’s a divorcee,” source tells Woman's Day.

“Everyone is comparing Meghan to Diana right now and saying she’ll be the next ‘people’s princess’.

Sources claim another point of contention is where Prince Harry and Meghan will get married.

Following her divorce from Andrew Parker Bowles in 1995, Camilla and Prince Charles tied the knot in a civil ceremony almost a decade later. With the Queen notably absent from the ceremony, Her Majesty was present at a blessing for the couple at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.

It’s at this exact chapel that Harry and Meghan are set to wed themselves, with the report claiming the choice of venue has only proven just how differently Meghan has been accepted by the royal family – and the public.

“Camilla sees herself and Meghan as pretty similar… but the way she sees it, Meghan has been welcomed with open arms, when she faced much criticism,” adds the source.
