The ‘Dear David’ ghost story just got a whole lot weirder
It’s official, the Twitter famous ‘Dear David’ ghost story has reached next level, and now people are starting to think it’s fake.
New Yorker Adam Ellis achieved viral fame in August this year when he started to document the activities of a child ghost that’s been haunting him in his apartment.
He dubbed the ghost David and has since been keeping possibly the longest Twitter thread ever, to share all the spooky occurrences that happen.
Whether it’s strange photos, his cats getting spooked or furniture moving, we will admit he has had us and the rest of the world completely captivated and freaked out.
But his latest updates posted just days ago along with a series of photos have gotten so spooky, that we, and most of the Twitterverse, don’t know what to think anymore.
Using an app that takes a photo every 60 seconds, this is what unfolded in Adam’s bedroom.
I downloaded an app that takes a photo every 60 seconds and set my phone on top of a bookcase (it's almost 7 feet tall, so it had a pretty good view of my bed and the surrounding room). Then I went to sleep.

Just like before, I jolted awake hours later, feeling the same unease. I turned on the light and hurried out of bed to get my phone from the bookcase. There were probably 350 photos to scroll through.

The vast majority of them were me sleeping in an empty room. It's sort of dark but you can see me sleeping. I'd left a couple night lights on just in case anything showed up, but for the first hundred or so photos it was just me in an empty room. pic.twitter.com/yDwR7to8xA

Then, suddenly, he was there. Standing on the chair at the foot of the bed staring at me.

The ghost is on the chair for a few photos before disappearing again and the next several photos on the scroll are completely normal.
But then he was back and this time standing right next to sleeping Adam.
About 15 photos later, he was back, standing next to the bed. It was just like the last time I saw him. pic.twitter.com/gxAbepRKUG

That's when my heart started to race. I didn't want to look at the rest of the photos, but I knew I had to. I swiped to the next photo and my heart sank into my stomach.

He was on the bed. Inches from me, staring down at me sleeping. pic.twitter.com/MOtQEgTLma

The next one was worse. In the next photo, he's staring right at the camera. pic.twitter.com/WhmuAr9DcQ

After that he seems to disappear again and the rest of the photos are empty – until the last one. Yes, that appears to be a head.

I'm at a loss for words. That malformed ear, that stringy hair. I didn't even know what to think. I looked all over my room but couldn't find anything. And honestly I've been so exhausted I didn't know how to process it.

While many were initially on board with the story, even pleading with Adam to run from that apartment and burn it down, a majority of Twitter users are now starting to doubt the entire story.
