Air force commander says UFO airmen 'may have been abducted'

A retired US Air Force commander has sent shockwaves through UFO-enthusiast communities by claiming that two British airmen “may have been abducted” by aliens.

Staff Sgt Jim Penniston and Airman John Burroughs were involved in the most infamous UFO case in Britain – dubbed the UK's Roswell – witnessing a small triangular shape craft land in the Rendlesham Forest, Suffolk.

The incident, which happened in December 1980, during the Cold War, saw Sgt Penniston get so close to the craft, he managed to touch it, saying it was "smooth".

At the time, strange flashing lights were seen in the woods just outside the twin NATO airbases of RAF Woodbridge and RAF Bentwaters, and Penniston and Burroughs went to investigate, according to The Sun.

It wasn’t until two nights later that the UFO returned, and the deputy commander of the base at the time, Charles Halt, led a team of military experts into the woods.

The goal was to “debunk” the claims, but now secret footage has been released exclusively by The Sun Online in which Halt can be heard saying that Burroughs "may have been abducted" and that the men were "unaccounted for" for hours.

The military team were apparently shocked when a beam of light from the UFO hit the ground metres away. But nothing of an abduction appeared on his official report of the incident sent to the Ministry of Defence.

Former British police detective Gary Heseltine is the one who released the clip – which was recorded by his wife when he toured the forest with Halt for an unfinished documentary.

He said it was only while recently re-watching the clip from 2010 that he picked up on what Halt had been saying.

"As someone who is just trying to piece together the events in Rendlesham Forest, I think it is in the public interest that they have a right to know such information and hence why I have released the clip,” Heseltine, who edits the UFO Truth website, said.
