Woman left paralysed after sex

It’s almost unbelievable – Lucinda Allen was left paralysed after having an orgasm during sex with her husband.

What is an orgasm? It’s sexual excitement, definitely not something that is supposed to leave you in a wheelchair.

But for Lucinda, who says she has often experienced headaches after sex, suffered multiple strokes and is now permanently paralysed down her left side.

The 38-year-old mum was hit by an excruciating headache after climaxing with her engineer husband Tony five years ago.

At the time she was six months pregnant, but ended up in a medically induced coma, with doctors worried they would need to deliver the baby early.

Lucinda says she knew something was different about this particular headache and even thought she was having a brain haemorrhage.

When she lost the ability to speak while in the ambulance on her way to the Queen Elizabeth’s Hospital in Birmingham, she really started to panic.

On arrival at the hospital she was put into a coma and had to have brain surgery to relieve pressure on the brain.

Luckily the baby was fine and after six days Lucinda woke from her coma, but she was paralysed.

“Waking after a coma is nothing like it is in the movies. It’s a slow and confusing process,” she told the UK Mirror.

“I was extremely distressed — suicidal at times — and I refused to acknowledge that I’d survived a stroke.”

Incredibly, Lucinda actually survived five strokes all up and was allowed home from hospital after three months in hospital.

On November 19 2012, the couple welcomed their daughter Marri-Alice into the world but their future would not be what they had planned.

Stuck in a wheelchair, Lucinda is unable to run around the park with her daughter like other mums.

“I am totally paralysed down my left side. I’m a full-time wheelchair-user,” she says.

The mum hopes that stem cell therapy could one day help her regain some of her movement.

But for now she hopes her story will warn others not to treat headaches after sex lightly.
