Could Meghan Markle’s bitter family feud threaten her engagement?
It’s the exciting engagement that has the world cheering, but while Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are sure to be toasting the good news with the royal family, there might not be quite the same level of celebration with the actress’ own clan.
The Suits star famously hasn’t spoken to her half- sister Samantha Grant in 10 years, with the former actress and model publicly calling her a “self-obsessed” social climber.
Samantha, 52, who shares the same father Thomas Markle as the bride-to-be, points the finger at Meghan’s increasingly hectic life.
“I felt that we had drifted apart,” Samantha told the Daily Mail.
“In retrospect, when I search my heart, maybe she just got very busy.”
The mother-of-three admitted last year that she hasn’t seen her half-sister since 2008, making her thoughts very clear when news of Meghan’s romance broke.
“The royal family would be appalled by what she’s done to her own family,” Samantha told the Sun.
Things didn’t help when mum-of-three Samantha, who is wheelchair bound after being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2008, revealed she was writing a tell-all memoir called The Diary of Princess Pushy’s Sister.
Despite this, Samantha claims she’s keen to call it quits on the feud – especially in light of Meghan’s marriage to Harry.
“I was quoted as calling her ‘Princess Pushy’. I never said those words,” Samantha told Sunday Night.
“The tabloids really milk that for all it’s worth, so it created a divide between Meghan and I, and I think I was just hurt.
“Their wedding, I would love to go, but we have no idea what’s going to happen.”
Samantha’s not the only blip on Meghan’s family radar.
In January, the actress’ half brother Thomas Markle Jnr was arrested at his Oregon home after he allegedly held a gun to his girlfriend’s head during a drunken fight.
Thomas Jnr and Samantha also seem to be at war, with Samantha tweeting that her brother was a compulsive liar just last week.
