What Samantha X misses about escorting
Former high-class escort and media personality Samantha X has admitted that she’s missing ‘certain aspects’ of her former gig.
The 43-year-old quit the industry when she started dating journalist Ryan Phelan, whom she split with earlier this month, and while she says she won't be returning to her former life, she does miss it.
"Escorting gives you freedom and flexibility, away from the constraints of a ‘normal job’," she told the Daily Mail, "and while that was exciting and fun, my needs have changed."
Samantha said she is now looking for stability as she turns her focus to studying a Masters in counselling and psychology.
But there are some other things she misses, including the friends she made, and being reminded of how 'strong and special' the women are.
While she isn’t an escort herself anymore, Samantha still has one foot in the door and mentors young women in the business.
“I still mentor women in this industry and I still have my escort agency Samantha X Angels, where I employ mostly women over age of 30, who choose to escort as a hobby rather than full time,” she said.
Her admission comes in response to a comment she made on her Instagram this week where she wrote, “You can take a girl out of the industry...”
It comes after Samantha’s (real name Amanda Goff) very public split from her reporter boyfriend Ryan Phelan.
After three intense and very public months of dating, she confirmed in January that they had parted ways, saying “love isn’t enough”.
There was a great deal of attention around their relationship when it was announced in November, and Samantha said it was one of the main reasons she gave up she gave up her career in sex work - despite being one of the country’s highest paid escorts.
