Rachael Finch defends 'unusual' eating habits

She was recently criticised as 'unusual' for saying she doesn't eat unless she's hungry.

But former Miss Universe Australia Rachael Finch, is standing by her diet secret, and tells Be exclusively at the 2017 Melbourne Cup, that she thinks it's something 'everyone' does.

"For me, I'm all about listening to my body and whatever I feel, and whatever my body is telling me, is what I do," the mum-of-two says.

Explaining that most people 'don't eat until they're hungry', she adds, "If I am not hungry, if I've eaten a massive dinner the night before at 8pm and then up at 5am, I don't feel like any food."

"But if I get hungry at 10am, I'll eat something."

The 29 year-old, who is married to her former Dancing With The Stars partner, Michael Miziner, goes on to explain that her diet's all about the details rather than the quantity.

"It just depends on what I've eaten before, how often I've eaten and how much I've eaten," Rachel says, adding that she tracks her "macronutrients" and whether a meal is "high in fat or high in carbohydrates" to decipher what to eat next.

Revealing her fitness regime this morning ahead of the race that stops the nation, she says she survived an early start with an "MCT coffee" - a coffee that replaces milk with natural fats found in butter or ghee - and finished with "a little bit of stretching."

Earlier this week, Rachel appeared on the front cover of Women's Health where she was criticised for some of her comments surrounding her eating habits.

In the interview, she explained that she shunned traditional diets and often wouldn't eat until 1pm, which sparked concern with health experts.
