Mum transforms daughter's $49 ALDI dollhouse into luxe mansion

It’s not uncommon for little girls to grow up wishing they had their own dollhouse mansion to play with but unfortunately for parents, these miniature houses don’t come cheap.

So when Aldi released their special buy wooden dollhouse for just $49.99 it was an absolute bargain.

But one creative mother went above and beyond with her bargain buy, transforming it into the ultimate dream dollhouse for her 3-year-old daughter.

Rachel Fawkes, a 29-year-old interior designer, spent three days giving the original lairy design a complete makeover to make it look modern and chic inspired by her own home.

“I loved the shape and design of the dollhouse but I thought it could look a lot better with a coat of paint to make it flow and feel like it’s a part of our home,’ she told Daily Mail Australia.

“Isn’t it every little girl’s dream to have a miniature replica of their own home to play with? I know that was my dream as a little one, and maybe that’s why I take such pride in styling my own house today,” she added.

Overall Rachel spent $137.90 on the transformation which covered the costs of the paint and miniature dollhouse furniture which she revealed was purchased from Kmart for just $32.

“I spent two days painting the dollhouse and an additional day painting the furniture which I purchased from Kmart,” she said.

After posting her finished transformation to her interior design themed Instagram, other parents have been inspired to make their own.

“This is genius! The original colour put me off and I didn’t think of this!!!” one user commented on the post.

And for any parents wishing to make their own, Rachel said the main thing is to have patience, for it can be a finicky process that involves a lot of time waiting for the paint to dry.
