Princess Mary has stepped up her fashion game

Meghan Markle has recently taken the spotlight when it comes to royal fashion after she stepped out in a sexy black tuxedo dress that broke at least four royal rules.

However, she’s not the only fashion-forward icon we should be following – rather, it’s time we appreciate one of our other most stylish royals: Princess Mary of Denmark.

Over this past year, the 46-year-old Crown Princess has seriously stepped up her fashion game and while it may not be in the headlines, that doesn’t mean we haven’t noticed.

Fashion expert and celebrity stylist, Alex Longmore, has even deemed her as, “One of the most elegant royals of our generation.”

“Princess Mary is evolving into one of the most elegant and stylish royals of our time. She is the epitome of what we would imagine a princess to encompass – elegant, polished, beautiful and feminine,” Alex says.

“Her wardrobe choices don’t scream elitism, in fact, the very opposite. Her style is one that is very easy to copy. She wears simple tailoring and soft fabrics, chooses colours that compliment her and she is the ‘queen’ of co ordination, silk skirts with optical prints and soft chiffon dresses with leather belts are just an example.”

It can even be said that Mary – while very similar to Kate Middleton – might even surpasses the Duchess of Cambridge when it comes to style.

“Princess Mary is like a zooped up version of the Duchess of Cambridge – more finesse and polish but both ultimately conservative and in their clothing choices,” Alex admits.
