Was this Family Guy joke about Kevin Spacey a warning?

Amid the allegations Kevin Spacey acted inappropriate towards a 14-year-old in the late 80s, did Seth MacFarlane hint about the actor's past in 2005?

A clip over a decade old from the comedian's cartoon series Family Guy has resurfaced, and seemingly predicts that there was something more to the House of Cards star. Watch the clip above.

In the scene, baby character Stewie Griffin runs through a mall trying to create a diversion by yelling: "Help! I’ve escaped from Kevin Spacey’s basement! Help me!"

The latest hint about Hollywood's dark side comes after Seth revealed his jab at Harvey Weinstein at the 2013 Oscars - well before the producer's sexual misconduct came to light - came from a place of "loathing and anger".

While announcing Best Supporting Actress at the time, the 44-year-old comedian joked the nominees would "no longer have to pretend to be attracted to Harvey Weinstein".

After the gag was unearthed following the New York Times damning investigation into the Miramax founder's actions against actresses and female employees for nearly three decades, Seth took to Twitter to explain the joke was a way of standing up to one of Hollywood's former heavyweights.

The American Dad creator said friend and actress Jessica Barth, who worked alongside Seth in his film Ted, had told him about Weinstein's actions, claiming she had her own horrifying experience of sexual harassment from the 65-year-old.

"It was with this account in mind that, when I hosted the Oscars in 2013, I couldn’t resist the opportunity to take a hard swing in his [Weinstein’s] direction," he tweeted last month.

"Make no mistake, this came from a place of loathing and anger. There is nothing more abhorrent and indefensible than abuse of power such as this."
