The bizarre tradition Meghan and Kate will have to follow at Eugenie's wedding

Move over Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton, it’s Princess Eugenie‘s turn to enjoy the spotlight as her impending wedding this Friday, October 12 to Jack Brooksbank.

Of course the Duchess of Cambridge and Duchess of Sussex will be in attendance with their husbands, Prince William and Prince Harry, but the pair will have to follow a bizarre tradition so they don’t take away attention from the bride.

The pair have to wear outfits they have already worn, according to Camilla Tominey, associate editor at The Telegraph.

“This is so they do not upstage the bride,” she said on UK chat show This Morning. “Don’t be surprised if we see Meghan in something she has worn recently.”

Kate is no stranger to recycling outfits.

At the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s wedding in May, the 36-year-old wore an ivory Alexander McQueen design which she had previously worn three times before.

More recently, Kate was seen at the wedding of Robert Suggs and Sophie Carter, her best friend, wearing a Catherine Walker coat and lace dress she first wore when she visited Berlin in 2017.

There’s also another strict dress code that applies to Kate and Meghan – they must wear a hat.

All female guests attending Eugenie and Jack’s nuptials are required to wear a hat, according to The Express – and no one is exempt, including Meghan and Kate and even the Queen.

Women will also need to don a day dress for the occasion, while men are expected to come in a three-piece morning suit.

As many will know, Eugenie and her older sister Princess Beatrice are somewhat experts (or maybe not…) in the hat department.

Back in 2011, the royal sisters sent many into a spin arriving at Prince William and Kate’s wedding donning some very, er, unique headpieces.

Last month Eugenie opened up about the criticism and backlash she and her sister have faced over their fashion choices.

“There was a horrible article that had been written about Beatrice and she got really upset,” the 28-year-old told Vogue.

“We were just about to step out and she had a bit of a wobble and cried. I was looking after her. And then about an hour later, I had a wobble and started crying and Bea was there for me.”

It appears the princesses weren’t going to have that happen a second time.

At the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s wedding in May, the pair went for some more low-key headwear.

We’ll just have to wait and see the hats Meghan and Kate decide to wear in October.
