I'll be completely up front here: I haven't been 100% sure about Meghan Markle.
Yes, she's beautiful. Yes, I liked her on Suits. And sure, she seems like she's royal-wife material. In fact, if anything Meghan seems almost too perfect, with her flawless lifestyle blogging and her selfless advocacy for the disadvantaged.
Because she seemed so immaculately composed, I was never completely sure how authentic Meghan's intentions were. Maybe it was all just a big act and she wanted to land a prince more than anything?
I'm pretty sure I wasn't the only one to tilt my head to one side when she said she'd never really heard much about the royal family.
Anyway. I was wrong. W.R.O.N.G.
Meghan is, in fact, probably the purest human to walk this Earth.
Watch the video of an 11-year-old Meghan talking about how she singlehandedly convinced America's biggest multinational consumer-goods manufacturer to change the line in one of its dishwashing advertisements, and you'll understand what I mean.
Little Meghan Markle didn't like the way a dishwashing-detergent ad was pitched at women, so she wrote to some powerful people, including the First Lady – aka Hillary Clinton – and the head of Procter and Gamble, to register her request for change.
She was successful, and the ad was promptly changed.
"I don't think it's right for kids to grow up thinking these things, that Mum does everything," Meghan told a TV news team at the time. "It's always 'Mum does this' and 'Mum does that'."
Right on, kid.
This is a woman who's been fighting for equality and working for the betterment of women her entire life.
