Bachelor's Shannon admits her 'cringey' exit was 'hard to watch'

Last night Bachelor fans branded the episode “hard to watch”, and no one agrees more than the centre of the drama herself, Shannon Baff.

The 25-year-old, who was eliminated by Nick Cummins in a very dramatic rose ceremony, admits she struggled viewing herself on screen, as she pleaded with the Honey Badger to keep her in the competition.

“It was bloody hard. I had to have one eye shut,” she tells Be.

“I think the whole thing was pretty cringey, you don’t like seeing yourself emotional.”

Shannon says she was completely blindsided when Nick gave Sophie another date, after she’d [Shannon] been the first contestant in the series to have a single date with him.

Not getting a rose on top of that tipped her emotions over the edge.

“What people don’t really see is each episode is actually one week. So I had been in that situation for two-and-a-half months,” she explains.

“I held in a lot of things that I really wanted to say and it all just happened to come out at that point.”

Some viewers speculated Shannon may have had a few drinks before she told Nick, “You haven’t got to know me…. “I was hanging onto sh*t, man”.

But the car care consultant says that assumption is “unfair”.

“I think that’s really unfair because people deal with their emotions in different ways,” she says.

“I was honestly wearing my heart on my sleeve. There was no control over my emotions at that point.

“That’s literally the best cry I’ve ever had. It was well needed. I didn’t even think about what I was saying… it’s true emotion and true feelings.”

She also admits that landing the first single date of the series way a disadvantage in its own way.

“Having the first date, there’s obviously a lot of pressure that comes with that.

“I did find it a bit difficult because you have the first date, then naturally I snapped into the mindset, ‘You’ve got to be patient now Shannon’.

“I was patient, unfortunately I didn’t get the date and that’s why the emotions were heightened at the exit as well. I felt, bloody hell I’ve been here two months and for what?”

The Bachelor continues next Wednesday at 7:30pm on Channel Ten.
