WATCH: George Clooney's unexpected reaction to Brange split

George Clooney was apparently unaware that his close friends Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt had separated when asked about it earlier today.

In a Facebook video posted by CNN, George looks visibly shocked as a reporter breaks the news of the split to the 55-year-old actor.

“You’re friends with both of them.” The CNN reporter comments to George. “[What are] your thoughts, any thoughts?”

The actor replies: “Who is that?”

“Angelina and your friend Brad,” the reporter responds.

George, clearly confused at this point asks: “What happened?”

“I didn’t know that,” he admits, looking clearly upset as the reporter fills him in.

“I feel very sorry,” he adds. “That’s a sad story about a family, I’m very sorry to hear that.”

George and Brad have become close over the years, since starring alongside each other in several films.

We're still in shock too! After twelve years and six children, reports circulated overnight that Angelina had decided to end her marriage to Brad Pitt, filing for divorce on Monday.

Citing irreconcilable differences as the reason, the court documents state the pair have been separated since September 15, just over two years and one month after they tied the knot in August 2014.

Ange has asked for joint custody of their kids Maddox, 15, Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, and twins Knox and Vivienne, eight, but wants solo physical custody with Brad allowed visitation rights.

Her longtime manager Geyer Kosinki told E! News: "Angelina is doing what's best in the interest of taking care of her children. She appreciates everyone's understanding of their need for privacy at this time."

Whilst entertainment attorney Robert Offer added in a statement: "Angelina has filed for dissolution of the marriage. This decision was made for the health of the family. She will not be commenting, and asks that the family be given its privacy at this time."

The 41-year-old actress reportedly decided to end the couple's marriage as she was "extremely upset" by how Brad was parenting their children.

Brad has since broken his silence on the split, admitting he's devastated.

"I am very saddened by this," the star says in a statement, "but what matters most now is the wellbeing of our kids.

"I kindly ask the press to give them the space they deserve during this challenging time."

Meanwhile, Angelina's estranged father Jon Voight has admitted he is feeling "very sad" after hearing the news.

He told Inside Edition: "It's very sad. Something very serious must have happened for Angie to make a decision like this.

"I don't know what it is. It's a sad thing. Say a little prayer. I am concerned for Angie and the children and hopefully I will be seeing them very soon."

Whilst Angelina didn't have too close a relationship with her father, she was incredibly close to her mother, Marcheline Bertrand, who tragically passed away from breast cancer in 2007.
