Em Rusciano takes aim at anti-vaxxers

Em Rusciano is no stranger to calling people out.

And today was no different after she questioned parents’ decisions not to vaccinate their children.

The discussion came about in response to a new controversial film Vaxxed: From Cover-Up to Catastrophe.

“If your ultimate goal is to prevent sickness and illness in your child, wouldn’t you get them vaccinated?" Em questioned on her 2DAY FM radio show with Harley Breen.

She went on to explain that the director of the film had his medical licence stripped because he claimed there were vaccinations linked with autism, which has apparently been debunked.

“I just don’t understand – considering how many deaths are prevented by vaccine, deciding not to get one doesn’t make you safe from sickness. The logic is not sound with these anti-vaxxers,” the radio host also said.

Em said she understood people “questioning science” but didn’t understand why parents would not vaccinate their children.

Her co-host Harley Breen also chimed in, saying: “People who had the fortune of being vaccinated – these people who got vaccinated by their parents and stayed fit and healthy are now [saying] ‘ we don’t need it, we’re fine’ – yeah, that’s because you got vaccinated.”

Em has two children with her husband Scott Barrow, daughters Marchella, 15, and 10-year-old Odette.

Harley recently opened up about to Be being a doting dad to his two sons Leonard, six, and newborn Walter.

“Walter is five-months-old and he’s already exposing his personality,” he excitedly told Be. “And I have the most hilarious moments with my eldest boy. What’s not to love about being a dad?”

Since Harley hit the airwaves alongside Em, the Sydney breakfast show – which previously belonged to axed Rove and Sam – has gained 33,000 new female listeners, something that's surely down to all the LOL's he gives listeners when spilling the deets on his comical #dadlife.
