Beyoncé confirms live-action Lion King role
The final cast has been revealed and the Bey Hive is going mad after it was confirmed Beyoncé will star in the live-action reboot of The Lion King.
The singer is set to play Nala, joining Donald Glover who has been cast as Simba, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar and James Earl Jones, who will be reprising his role as Mufasa.
Queen Bey took to social media to share the news, posting a picture of the cast, which also includes Seth Rogen, John Oliver, John Kani and Billy Eichner.
Earlier this year Variety reported director Jon Favreau, who also helmed the live-action reboot of The Jungle Book, wanted Beyoncé to voice the beloved character – in fact, she was his "top choice".
The outlet added that despite Beyoncé welcoming twins with husband Jay Z earlier this year Disney and and Jon were "willing to work with her schedule" to make her part in the movie happen.
It looks like Bey CAN feel the love tonight.
The original flick, which came out in 1994, is one of the highest-grossing animated films of all time, making a lifetime global box office of $968.8M.
The Broadway musical soon followed, which won six Tony Awards including Best Musical and recently celebrated its 20th anniversary playing on Broadway.
The Lion King is set to be released next year on the 25th anniversary of the original.
