Georgie Gardner reveals biggest fear about Today return
Georgie Gardner returned to Today this morning as the show's new co-host alongside Karl Stefanovic after four years away.
But despite being all smiles this morning as she occupied her new seat, the journalist admitted she had a major concern about her new role.
The 47-year-old told The Daily Telegraph that the pressures of live television mixed with the often brutal use of social media have made her nervous about intense "scrutiny."
"There's a part of me that feels wary because we live in a time now where there is just so much scrutiny," she told the publication. "We live in this very weird era of clickbait and I just hope with that I don't lose my spontaneity."
"I figure we're all at risk of saying something that we might... regret or feel 'oh gosh I wish I didn't say that.'" she went on. "But I hope that doesn't override the genuine side of me and my authenticity."
Georgie was announced as Lisa Wilkinson's replacement in November, four years after leaving the show to concentrate on her family. She has a daughter, Bronte and a son, Angus.
She also dismissed the rumours there's a long-running rift between her and Karl, 43, who is currently dating Jasmine Yarbrough, saying it had been "hyped up a bit."
Meanwhile, Lisa Wilkinson, who reportedly quit the show after 10 years over a gender pay dispute is set to take up her new role at Ten.
Despite The Project already being back on air, Lisa isn't set to appear until after Australia Day.
