Is this proof the Queen watches The Crown?

Since Netflix first launched their popular show The Crown, based on the lengthy 65 year reign of Queen Elizabeth II, fans have been wondering if Her Majesty herself has ever tuned in.

It was something most presumed would remain a mystery, until the Queen gave her Christmas speech and dropped a MAJOR hint.

During her famous festive address to the nation, the head royal talked about her first ever televised speech 60 years earlier, a landmark viewers of The Crown had just seen recreated by actress Claire Voy in season 2.

Naturally, fans have lost it at the apparent nod from Her Royal Highness.

"Sixty years ago today, a young woman spoke about the speed of technological change as she presented the first television broadcast of its kind," she said. "She described the moment as a landmark."

Then she played a clip of her first broadcast in 1957, as if to show viewers of the show what it really looked like.

And wow, we can't help but notice that Claire Voy's portrayal was on point.

Moving back to the present day, the Queen appeared to joke, saying "Six decades on, the presenter has 'evolved' somewhat, as has the technology she described."

It's been long wondered whether the royals themselves watch the show, which at $130million per series is the most expensive televised show in history.

Back in May, Vogue reported that a senior royal source confirmed that Elizabeth Regina has in fact watched the show and "liked it."

The Queen's 2017 Christmas speech however, is the strongest proof yet that the rumour is true.
