Princess Eugenie and fiancé Jack are actually related

They might have met during a Swiss ski trip when they were in their 20s, but it seems Princess Eugenie and her fiancé Jack Brooksbank have a history that goes back further than that.

The couple, who announced their engagement after Jack popped the question in Nicaragua in January, are the first to admit they have a lot in common.

“We have the same passions and drive for life,” Princess Eugenie, 27, said in a BBC interview.

However that’s not the only thing the couple share, with royal experts claiming the pair are actually related.

Third cousins twice removed, to be exact.

The Metro reports Thomas Coke, who was born in 1822 and died in 1909 and was the second Earl of Leicester, is the link between the two.

“Eugenie’s mother, the Duchess of York, is the great-great-granddaughter of Lady Julia Coke,” reports the publication.

“And Lady Julia Coke is the daughter of Jack’s great-great-grandfather, Thomas Coke."

They’re not the only couple who have tied the know, and shared the same family tree.

Despite seemingly coming from very different backgrounds, Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle share ancestors as well.

A distant relation, Ralph Bowes who was born in 1480 in Streatlam, County Durham, was actually Harry and Meghan’s great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great grandfather.

It’s a trend that appears to occur fairly frequently within the royal family.

Records show that Queen Elizabeth II and her husband Prince Philip are both directly related to Queen Victoria, making them third cousins.
