Meghan Markle smiles awkwardly through awards speech blunder

It was her first official red carpet event with her future husband, Prince Harry, but not everything went smoothly for Meghan Markle on the night.

The 36-year-old former Suits actress attended the Endeavour Awards, where she presented the Celebrating Excellence Award.

However, her first moment to take on an official royal didn’t come without its mishaps and this awkward moment lasted nearly a minute.

Meghan took to the podium, telling the audience how honoured she was to be there, before handing over the microphone to her co-host, former award winner Neil Heritage.

Unfortunately, Neil seemed to have been given different notes to Meghan and had completely lost track of what he was supposed to say.

The pair then awkwardly spent about a minute trying to find his speech on numerous A4 pages.

“Awkward, we’ve got different notes,” Neil said, looking at Meghan for some support.

The future royal smiled and laughed as she started shuffling the papers, trying to locate his part in the speech.

And just when it seemed like they had fixed the problem, it appeared Neil was still lost in the pages and took another 10 seconds to gain his composure.

The blip was soon forgotten though, when the eventual winner, Daniel Claricoates from 65 Degrees North was announced.

Daniel was awarded the prestigious accolade after scaling some of the highest mountains in the world to help him recover from PTSD.

Meghan and Prince Harry were then pictured leaving the event, with the future Duchess of Sussex looking chic and sophisticated in a black Alexander McQueen suits and a white silk blouse.

She held hands with her fiancé, who also looked dapper in a navy suit.
