It’s the diamond sparkler that looks likely to set off an engagement ring trend for 2018 but how much is Meghan Markle's bling actually worth?
Prince Harry popped the question to the American actress at the beginning of November in their Kensington Palace cottage, presenting her with a stunning three-stone diamond ring.
The stones are mounted on a yellow band and the centre stone, which the 33-year-old Prince sourced from Botswana, weighs in at a massive 3.5 carats.
The bling is flanked by two smaller diamonds from Princess Diana’s personal jewellery collection.
“The ring is yellow gold because that's her favourite, and the main stone itself I sourced from Botswana and the little diamonds either side are from my mother's jewellery collection to make sure that she's with us on this crazy journey together,” Prince Harry said in a BBC interview after the couple made the announcement.
And now experts believe that the sentimental creation might actually be priceless, due to the inclusion of Diana’s diamonds.
Speaking to Money, experts estimated that the centre diamond would come in at about $263,000.
However, the two stones on either side of it are hard to value because they don’t know which items of jewelry they actually came from.
The experts estimated that if the stones are perfect diamonds, the cost of the ring could be anywhere between $395,000 and $460,000.
Back in June, it was reported that Prince Harry was in the process of designing the ring himself and was using dimaonds from his mother’s favourite bracelet.
However, it still hasn’t been confirmed which piece of jewellery the diamonds came from.
We do know that Prince Harry enlisted the services of Cleave and Company jewelry company, which is also used by the Queen.
Meghan Markle has described the ring as “beautiful” and “incredibly special”.
“Obviously not being able to meet his mom, it’s so important to me to know that she’s a part of this with us,” the future royal said in an interview with the BBC.
“And I think in being able to meet his aunts and … different people who were so important to his mom, I’m able to, in some way, know a part of her through them and of course through him.
“And it’s incredibly special. And you know to be able to have this, which sort of links where you come from and Botswana, which is important to us … it’s perfect.”
